The Apple Hill Growers group announces scholarship winners

The Apple Hill Growers Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2015 Norma Brubaker Scholarships. The honors go to Lexie Padilla and Mayra Aguilar. Padilla is a graduate of Ponderosa High School. Padilla will be attending University of California, Chico, with a projected major of bachelor of science in animal science. Her ultimate goal is to become a doctor of veterinary medicine. Aguilar is a graduate of El Dorado High School. Aguilar will attend Southern Oregon State University with a projected major in communication studies and a minor in nonprofit. Aguilar’s ultimate goal is to found her own nonprofit organization to help children and young adults create and achieve their goals. The Apple Hill Growers Association established the Norma Brubaker Scholarship in 1986 in honor of Norma Brubaker, the first secretary of the association. The scholarship is made possible by proceeds from the Apple Hill Harvest Run with matching funds provided by the Brubaker family. The scholarship is one of the ways the Apple Hill Growers give back to the community and support students who have worked at member ranches in their pursuit of  higher education.
