King Fire: Watershed focus of Rubicon tour

An arsonist may be to blame for the scar the King Fire left behind, but the government also played an important role in the fuels that allowed the fire to become the catastrophic event that it was.

Driving into the Rubicon Watershed area, an area that used to harbor 1,000-year-old forest growth, is a devastating experience for those who never knew its beauty before the destruction. It’s especially hard to comprehend for those who have recreated in this area for years.

While 97,000 acres were impacted, the residual effects of the King Fire will be felt for thousands of acres, miles even, throughout the entire state of California.
