EDCAR celebrates another successful year

El Dorado County Association of Realtors members spread holiday cheer at the annual Installation and Awards Luncheon held at the Serrano Country Club on Dec. 14.

2013 EDCAR President Karen Larson received the gavel from 2012 President John DiNocco, who was praised for his leadership and given a caffeinated gift for his service.

Out-going EDCAR Directors Bette Humenick, Susan McVicar and Linda Riley also received praise and applause for their efforts on the board. The 2013 Board of Directors is: President Karen Larson; President-elect Katie Minor; Past President John DiNocco; Treasurer Erlinda Vindler; Directors Marlene Moser, Jesse Crawford, Sue Cox, Mike Southwick, Trent Andra, Andi Wagner, Brian Frazier and Stewart Lomax.; and Affiliate Director Cindy Holland.

Realtor and former professional baseball player Russ Brett with Century 21 Select Real Estate was named Realtor of the Year. Brett had earlier offered the luncheon’s inspiration, telling the crowd that a person is only as good as the people who stand behind them — in his case, is wife, who also attended. Brett thanked her for his success.

HomeSource advertising representative Cheryl Platz became a double award winner at the luncheon. She received the Women’s Council of Realtors Affiliate of the Year Award earlier this month and earned the same honor at the EDCAR luncheon, winning the Debbie Amaral Memorial Award Affiliate Citizen of the Year.

Moved to tears, Platz thanked the group she has worked with for nearly a decade. “I love my job,” Platz said, “and I love working with all of you.”
