Cancer New Moon

Author Albert Pine said, “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” While this may be true, it is impossible to be kind to others if we do not first take care of ourselves. The new Cancer moon encourages us to nurture ourselves so we’ll have more to give to the world.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). The immature way is to assume that if something is not going right now, it never will go right, and therefore the whole endeavor should be chucked. The mature way is to take a breath, calm down and try again.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You’ll do a kind of dance as you decide how close to get to someone. You’ll emotionally back up, move in, pull to the side and circle to find the right angle. It may be awkward, but it’s all part of the process.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You’ll stand up to the people who take advantage of others, even if you personally have not been victimized. You’re courageous and bold for those who can’t be.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Take the time to focus on yourself. Search your soul, and then give it what it longs for. Self-love allows you to give what is rare and beautiful: friendship without self-interest, love without strings.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Wanderlust sets in. You feel you have to keep moving, though others want you to settle down. You may pause for a few moments, but only to catch your breath before you pick up and go again.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Your purpose is to engage others, but your methods may be unusual. You’ll make mischief — not because it’s fun to be rebellious, but because you’re trying to play with and entertain people.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). “Do I have to paint you a picture?” says a friend in exasperation. But the devil, as always, is in the details. So don’t be afraid to say, “Yes, you DO have to paint me a picture,” in order to prevent misunderstandings.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Someone is expecting you to pull a few rabbits out of your hat. While you love to entertain people, an audience that’s too demanding takes the fun out of that. Set some boundaries.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Everyone loves a parade — except the person who is in a desperate hurry to get across the street. Don’t stew in frustration when you can join that parade and work your way to the other side naturally.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You don’t want your idiosyncratic friend to conform to your ways, and neither do you want to conform to his or hers. You appreciate your differences for how they widen both of your perspectives.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Negative thoughts have been rushing in circles through your mind like the loop of a roller coaster. It’s high time to step over to the Ferris wheel for some calm revolutions and perspective on the crazy carnival of life.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Don’t let a co-worker mistake your justified confidence for arrogance. Remember to present your can-do attitude in a way that doesn’t turn you into the office steamroller.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (July 8). Spiritual and artistic awareness expands through the next 10 weeks. You will be hand-in-hand with a powerful ally this month. August brings a much-needed cash infusion. Rearrange finances to make the most of it. September shifts the family dynamic. You’ll arrange fantastic events in December. Aquarius and Virgo people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 4, 2, 11, 48 and 30.

DEVELOP YOUR INTUITION, ARIES: For Aries, intuition often doesn’t have anything to do with pondering, casting runes or peering into crystal balls. For Aries, intuition lives in the body. It’s how the body works and responds. Aries is the sign of “just do it.” The thought process that takes place before the ram takes action is so the-speed-of-light that Aries doesn’t even realize there was a thought process. “Impulsive” is the word for it — a word with negative connotation. Impulsive people are sometimes seen as selfish, unrestrained and out of control. They are also quick responders, in the moment, doing what comes naturally, following the survival instinct, meeting challenges and snapping up the opportunities of the moment. Impulsive people are in touch with their animal selves.

Anyone who loves animals knows that just because they don’t speak in words doesn’t mean they are stupid. Animal intelligence is something to admire and respect, especially when the animal is you.

For Aries, developing intuition is a matter of accepting, embracing and trusting the animal impulses that come so naturally. Of course, many impulses must not be acted upon, and restraint is necessary to live peaceably in society. But recognizing and respecting the wisdom of impulse leads to a more confident and intuition-guided existence.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Young movie star, rapper and dancer Jaden Smith isn’t guided only by famous parents. He also gets advice from family friends Kid Cudi, Drake and Jay-Z. Smith was born under a Cancer sun, the sign of mothers, and a Capricorn moon, the moon of fathers. His Mercury in Leo makes for a naturally entertaining communication style. His Venus in Gemini indicates strong social intelligence.
