CALIFORNIA'S OLDEST NEWSPAPER - EST. 1851
Volume 162 · Issue 60 | 99¢

Horoscope, Saturday, June 30, 2012

The day is split between the very private and intuitive Scorpio moon and the outgoing and expansive Sagittarius moon. Your excitement will grow, first as you imagine and anticipate the adventures to come and then as you embark on them. Both stages are equally engaging and essential to the success of your mission.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). The image is of you moving forward through a tunnel. You know there will be a light at the end even if you can’t see it just yet. Turn on your headlights, and move methodically forward.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The ability to connect comes easily to you most times, but today you may need a little help. The road to conversation will be smooth when you express genuine interest in what a person is saying and respond positively.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You’ll be guided by your spirit animal, the butterfly, flitting around ideas, engagements and social circles. “The butterfly counts not months but moments and has time enough.” — Rabindranath Tagore

CANCER (June 22-July 22). The way familiars interact can be habitual and predictable. Add a new person to the mix, visit in a different city or do something else to change the dynamic, and the pattern is interrupted, giving you a fair chance at fun.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Focus your energy on reacting well to the situation at hand instead of trying to figure out why it happened in the first place. You can figure that out later or, more likely, realize that some things are out of our control.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). It’s best not to answer every request made of you. Helping those who don’t really need it begins a sequence of dependency that is not healthy for anyone involved.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). If you’re holding on to what another person did wrong, you won’t be able to grasp what’s right in your world. Cling to the things that keep you in hope and love, and let the rest go.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The afternoon presents the equivalent of a splash of cold water to the face. Celebrate whatever brings awareness into your life. Your heart expands, and you are consciously present to your connectedness with others.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Some say that a lack of set conditions is the way to happiness. Others say that high standards are necessary to keep you on track with your goals. You’ll be deeply satisfied in some middle ground.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Your thinking will swing like a pendulum between two extremes. You will be organized and practical one moment and fantastically whimsical the next. Someone is fascinated by the surprise of you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Difficult things are easier to accomplish, while the things that are usually a snap may be strangely challenging. Emotional satisfaction isn’t dependent on results. It’s about how much fun you have in the process.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Male relationships are favored, and your fortunes will be improved by an exchange with a man. This person will be interested in a skill you have or a style in which you communicate.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (June 30). Led by your heart, love changes you this year. Relationships have a strong influence on where you’ll live and work. Activities that center on communication, writing, mechanical skills and design bring success over the next 10 weeks. In September, you’ll get to the bottom of a mystery or obstacle that’s held you back. Love signs are Cancer and Gemini. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 39, 27, 46 and 23.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: “I know that it’s not right to indulge vengeful thoughts, and yet I can’t stop dreaming about someday showing up a certain someone. This person dumped me, and it hurt. This happened seven years ago, and I still think about it all the time. Lately I have an especially hard time letting it go. I keep thinking that someday this person will be sorry, and I have to make sure that happens. Do you have any advice for a Cancer who is in continual pain over something that happened long ago?”

Your personal success and satisfaction with yourself are the best revenge you could possibly extract. This type of revenge comes with a bonus: Designing your beautiful life is so all-consuming that you’ll naturally forget about ol’ so-and-so. With the sun in your sign, you’re coming into your power in the weeks ahead, growing more centered, creative and motivated with each day. It’s beautiful because you don’t have to worry about consciously stopping the obsessive negative thoughts that haunt you. All you have to do is decide to make yourself happy and work toward being the person you want to be, and the rest takes care of itself.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Fantasia Barrino is a maternal Cancer who won “American Idol” as a single mother. The Grammy winner was born with the sun, Mercury and Venus in soulful Cancer, suggesting that her children are a source of strength and delight. Barrino’s passionate Leo moon suggests that this powerhouse singer and actress loves the spotlight, and the spotlight loves her back.
