The Groundhog Predicts

The prescient Pisces moon rules this Groundhog Day, suggesting that Punxsutawney Phil, seer of seers, sage of sages, prognosticator of prognosticators and weather prophet extraordinaire, will be accurate in his prediction of this year’s weather. The action picks up this evening with a celebratory and energetic Aries moon.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). In a world of speed, the one who takes the time to do something that is right and beautiful down to the last detail will stand out. You’re such a person today.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Life’s recipe needs spice, and you’ll get some of that today. But do be careful. Just because “a little” is good doesn’t mean “a lot” is going to be better. Too much spice spoils the soup.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Silent gratitude won’t help in today’s situation. Be vocal and thorough. When you’re expressing how generous and kind a person is, they will not accuse you of saying too much.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). What do you exchange with another person to help that person feel better? What do you need from that person in order to feel better yourself? If you both understand the currency, it will be an easy exchange.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Is it really true that nothing is certain? Though there is always a chance that things won’t work out as planned, there is often a greater chance that they will. Go forward knowing that some things are more certain than others.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). The great explorers understand that just because a destination is not in sight doesn’t mean it does not exist. Have faith and hope that the end you desire is a real possibility.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You only have something to hide if you believe you do. Anyway, it would be a waste of time to try to manipulate someone’s opinion of you. The truth you feel like telling or showing will work just fine.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The ones you look up to have done what you would like to do. They have not, however, done it as well as you will. Believe in yourself. Follow the path they have set, and carry your unique offerings on your back.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You have been learning at a faster pace than some of the others around you and therefore would be holding yourself back by trying to follow the same program.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Small wins are steppingstones. Mistakes are steppingstones, too, as long as you figure out what went wrong and recover. The only thing that doesn’t qualify as a steppingstone is falling down and not getting back up.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). When you tell a person what he wants to believe, he will hear it as the truth, whether or not it really is. You’ll be tempted to state such flattery, but think twice.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Everyone says silly things from time to time. Forgive yourself for your own silliness, and let the inane comments of your friends pass by without argument or note.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Feb. 2). You’ll have instant rapport with a special person in March, and that will begin a relationship that will bring you joy for years to come. In April, you’ll pass a test or nail an accomplishment. May brings the victorious end of a trial. You’ll be required to study and save in August, and this leads to broader horizons in the fall. Libra and Sagittarius people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 49, 4, 42 and 18.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: Today’s moon in Pisces gives a psychic edge to groundhogs and others predicting the weather and events of the next few months. This evening, the moon returns to the first sign of the zodiac, renewing her purpose and restoring her energy, especially physically. You may feel more energized in the p.m. than you did this morning.

In these first days of the Chinese New Year of the Wooden Horse, the strength and mobility embodied in this image begin to take hold. It’s an excellent time to talk about your hopes for the weeks to come. Sharing with loved ones will bring the power of the group to your wishes. But don’t stop with sharing; make plans, too. Commitments have power through Wednesday, and it will be important to do as much practical work as you can before Mercury pushes the pause button on Thursday and stations for his first retrograde transit of the year.

A Mercury retrograde is nothing to fear. It’s merely a review of the business and communication of the past few months. However, it’s not a stellar time to sign contracts, launch products or try to gain publicity. Misunderstandings and mishaps are more likely, so be as thorough and thoughtful as possible.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: With a 25-year contract with CoverGirl, supermodel Christie Brinkley broke records in her industry. Her sun, moon, Mercury and Venus are all in the lighthearted, bright realm of Aquarius. This is also the sign of the future and philanthropy. Brinkley has been honored for her work with several charities including Smile Train and charities that help cancer victims.
