Mercury Bids Capricorn Adieu

Once upon a time, there was a certain sector of the population that fell comfortably into the category of “technologically challenged” or “technologically adverse.” Now there are more people who are overly dependent on technology than completely un-technical, a trend that will continue as Mercury leaves Capricorn for Aquarius.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your curiosity is endless. Questions lead to fascinating answers and then more questions. You’ll be a lifelong learner, so you may as well pace yourself.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The basic reminders are pretty annoying at this point, and yet they still ring true: You have one body, so take care of it. Preventive action begets future happiness.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Are you reacting to the way things really are, or are you reacting to what you believe the way things are? Your imagination will now power a change.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Setting boundaries around worry will be helpful, for instance only allowing yourself to think about fearsome things for a short period of time. Afterward it will feel good to let it go and hope for the best.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You don’t always get the reinforcement you want from your inner circle. Sometimes they give you resistance and critical thought instead of agreement, but it’s ultimately why you need them close. You learn more this way.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Some believe in a punishing god. Others think that humans find a way to punish themselves when they feel guilty over their own wrongdoing. You’ll develop your own beliefs on the subject today.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). All the work you do to make a relationship pleasant and mutually supportive is worthwhile. The one who is supposed to be on your side will prove loyal. This is heartening.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You find it easy to weave loving care into the moments. You simply let yourself appreciate the parts that please you and before you know it those parts overtake your whole day.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). When was the last time you experienced the glory of a waterfall? It’s a symbol for sweet release — an image that can help you now. You’ll feel inspired to take a problem to the edge and let go.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The work you do to make yourself more beautiful is mostly internal work. What’s inside changes the way your face looks at any given moment. Today your face will project a peaceful personality.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You’ve been known to write for pleasure. Today you are most fortunate when you write to organize your thoughts and track your progress, a practice which will ultimately bring you more pleasure too.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You’ll find out that you need less or that you need something entirely different from what you thought you needed. This good news frees you up significantly.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 17). You’re in a rather disobedient mood for the rest of the month so strike out in a direction all your own. Your talents grow in February under new tutelage. February also introduces new romance. March features your work in a small, loyal group. Together you can do great things if you keep the power balance in check. Gemini and Leo adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 5, 20, 9, 44 and 12.

SAGITTARIUS YEAR AT A GLANCE: JANUARY: Your ruling planet continues to cheer you onto new adventures, including a change in your image. FEBRUARY: The haze of idealism burns off you and you realize that relationships really are work. MARCH: The Equinox of the 20th begins a revitalization of your personal life. APRIL: You’ll have a receptive audience, so rehearse and perfect your presentation. MAY: You’ll make a trade off for love. JUNE: Seek formal education. You’ll learn best that way and quickly expand your financial horizons. JULY:  Through service to others you’ll gain the rewards and recognition you seek. Fortune favors you in the third week. AUGUST: The way you love, or perhaps whom you choose to love, will be a source of fulfillment. Also entertainment. SEPTEMBER: Your perception will widen and you become even more empathetic. OCTOBER: You’ll be made aware of a kink in your relationship with money. This awareness can change everything. NOVEMBER: No matter how high up a person may get, they still need people. DECEMBER: You’ll be tested. If you get 90 percent correct answers, you’ll earn an A. But it’s the last 10 percent that matters most to your success.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Arguably the world’s most famous boxer, Capricorn champion Muhammed Ali was born when the Moon, Mercury and Venus were in the agile air sign, Aquarius. Mars, Saturn and Uranus were in Taurus, the sign of the bull, when Ali was born. The combination of power and speed are well represented in this Earth/Air combination.
