Honestly, I have never stepped in Mountain Lion Poop, but I have stepped in dog poop. I am glad to have some places were we can go to relax without someones pet coming up and jumping on me or off leash harassing me because their dog is "friendly". During the summer we were hiking up near Tahoe and one of those friendly dogs jumped up and scratched my son on the face. The owners just skulked off with nary a word nor apology. No one ever admits to being the problem, but someone is... Walk the Placerville trail and see the users who bag their dog waste and leave it for someone else to pick up... why bother, inconsiderate morons. Don't like Mountain Lions, do not venture outside.

I'm sure they will blame state budgets and what not, but the real blame is on the voters and our politicians. Everything is endangered. From the stupid Snowy Plover that lays eggs in the middle of the sand to the Red Legged Tree Frog that there are millions of on the divide. The system is broken in so many ways.

To me, it is a risk for us shoosing to live in the foothills. All we can do it provide real protection as best as possible but it's not always a sure thing. That is life and nature. I honestly wouldn't be upset if a lion was shot durning an attack, however, the lions in the Matson case were long gone and where hunted down and killed. They weren't relocated. And Matson didn't have protection for his goat. Of course you can argue that, but honestly a 4 foot fence is a joke.

But enough Matson bashing... there have been a lot of sighting in Cool and Greenwood as well. One can blame the over populated area of deer. Female deer are small, staving/sick looking, and there are lots of them. When was the last time the DFG released either sex tags in D3-5 areas?
