What do you call it when a gun club feels they should have unrestricted access to weapons that have no place in our society? What do you call a gun club that’s convinced its membership that it’s their divine right to have those weapons? What do you call it when a gun club lies to its membership and spends million to defeat those in public office who support gun control in the name of , “freedom and the rights of law abiding Americans to own guns.” What do you call a gun club who feels that if laws are passed to restrict assault weapons they will wage war on America because, “it’s their birth right confirmed by the Constitution to have those guns. What do you call a gun club whose interpretation of the Second Amendment seems to put it to the right of not only most Americans, including most gun owners, but also the Roberts Supreme Court and even Justice Antonin Scalia, the most conservative of the justices. I would call it not a gun club but closer to an extremist group such as the one that helped inspire America’s worst act of domestic terrorism.

As for the recent shootings, I know nothing about the shooter’s (irrelevant) political proclivities. Purportedly, he wrote an 11,349 word document — 17 pages, when put into Word. It is a rambling lot of nonsense, hardly constituting a “Manifesto”. There’s no way of knowing WHO wrote it, WHEN it was written, WHY it was written, on WHAT DATE it was written, or for WHAT PURPOSE. One could as just as well anonymously post a restyled Communist Manifesto, attributing to some poor sucker.

Richurd is taking the entire constitution out of context. The rights mentioned therein are not granted by the Document itself, but by the Creator; “Men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” meaning these rights cannot be separated from those to whom they are endowed. The gubmint didn’t give ‘em and the gubmint can’t take ‘em away. The Constitution didn’t say “the people shall have the right to keep and bear arms…”. It mentions this right as preexisting and recognizes the sovereignty of the right. My context is bigger than your context, Richurd.
