Letters

A greater problem

By From page A5 | December 13, 2013

EDITOR:

Dear Mr. Courtemanche,

Regarding your letter to the editor on Sept. 11 decrying Ms. Mumau’s letter of Sept. 2, which regarded the lesbian wedding announcement published in the Mountain Democrat, your letter is demonstrative of the greater problem with differing opinions. You called her letter “intentionally hurtful.” I thought Ms. Mumau’s letter seemed to be from heartfelt concern and from her deep-seated Christian convictions and not at all damning.

You continued by calling her “clueless.” You do not consider that there is any enlightened opinion but yours that has the right to be published.

Just possibly there is a God. Just possibly He does condemn homosexuality. Just possibly you are the clueless one.

I would like to commend Ms. Mumau for stating her opinion in a perfectly appropriate venue and thank the Democrat for publishing it since both had to know that name calling, accusations and perhaps worse would follow, as do l.
