A seasonal success

From page A5 | December 28, 2012 |

On Dec. 10 “Friends of El Dorado County Seniors” held our 1st annual Senior Santa event. This event brought together 28 seniors along with many volunteers to Christmas shop at the El Dorado Hills Target store. Each senior was given a gift card with which to purchase gifts for family or loved ones, or to provide for their own needs.

After shopping, everyone proceeded to the Mother Lode Lions Hall, which was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Lunch was served, thanks to many donations from our local businesses. The Leo Lions Club of Union Mine High and other volunteers assisted with lunch and gift wrapping. A visit from Santa and a joyous afternoon rounded out the day.

Donations were received from many individuals and businesses, along with a grant from the Rotary Club of Pollock Pines/Camino. “Friends of Seniors” would like to thank the Rotary Club, the Mother Lode Lions Club, the Leo Lions Club, all our wonderful volunteers, and of course, our fabulous donors. Without all of their support, this special holiday gathering could not have taken place.

If you are interested in becoming a “Friends of Seniors” volunteer, our next meeting is Monday, Jan. 7 at 3:30 p.m. in the Game Room at the Senior Center at 937 Spring St. in Placerville. For more information, call 530-626-6323 or e-mail
