Yes, John McCain did a difficult 5 ½ years as a POW of the North Vietnamese. Many that know him then say he is still haunted by his experience and fearful of any opening up of information that could revive previously unpublished details of his nagging history as a POW. I for one think his personal demons have caught up with him, why else would he be acting as he is with the entire world watching during a period our country is so fragile.

Mr. Veerkamp, you will have to give me more so I can comment. The North Vietnamese knew his father was an Admiral and that’s why they offered him early release. He declined to his credit. However, had he accepted he would have been finished in the Navy and his father would not have been able to help him in that. What is your point exactly? Hoe did he get to stay at the Hanoi Hilton? Ah, Red Dawn, Yes, you would like that one, I can see how you could get into a movie about a high school football team single-handedly defeating the Soviet army. Richard, Your man got re-elected by doing a whole lot of what you’re suggesting for me to do. I trust that common sense will eventually prevail in the Latino,Black and all other communities. Obama is known as the “food stamp president of Mexico” and that will not be sustainable! Brown did not need a Prop 30 or 38 for California schools. Prop 30 passed but only 40-60% (wide range) of new revenues will go to schools and the balance will be used for a “range of OTHER state programs”. If this state were to concentrate on legal citizens with our taxpayer dollars then we would be in the black and not the red. All an illegal immigrant to Obama, Brown and you is an undocumented Democrat. There are no more brown asses left to kiss after you and your brown noses got done. I trust that true common sense will eventually prevail in all ethnicity’s. I just wish it were sooner than later.

Kirk, I appreciate the intention of your reply, but… The tax code has been driven insane by both parties in equal measure, as special interest payback all across our government. The folks who self-identify as Conservatives are often on the receiving end of tax shenanigans and government contracts. On inefficiency, I really think much of that is the human condition. I’ve worked for large companies filled with very smart people and found them to be wasteful, inefficient, and easily distracted by politics. I don’t think Conservative groups do any better. They don’t appear better organized or better able to resolve internal differences. The economics of subsidies is also not a topic that people who call themselves Conservatives actually do any better on. Even representatives who claim cosmic disgust in government are typically engaged in a pork-fest. So I’m kinda sick of so called Conservatives implying they have some corner on these markets. For me, the Conservative / Liberal dichotomy is false. We need new words. But I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. (And the truth is, I’m commenting right now to avoid painting the house.)
