EDITOR:

Regarding our pretty, pink billboard on Highway 50, one important word was omitted on the billboard: brothel.

I understand this is not permitted in the State of Nevada. Are we going to continue to be SUCKERS to shady outside business interest, or is the “New Board of Supervisors” going to get ahold of the reins of this County. - And when it comes to our children, don’t tell me about Free Speech on Highway 50! Oh come on! We all know that the first can be difficult. Get over it. It won't be as difficult the second time. If we had more Nevada whore house advertising here we wouldn't even notice this sign. Sheesh!

. . . . and besides, what's wrong with El Dorado County pimping for Nevada anyway . . . are we losing business?

sometimes I think that the "powers that be" are purposely going way out there to shock us--in order to bring us back to where they want...or the world has just gone crazy...I had just gone to a "design" committee--where they were deciding if a stores sign fit imaginary rules--than we got an ugly blue guide sign in Pollock--followed by the lovely pink sign on 50. I heard there are more signs coming to guide one into the different parts of El Dorado...cant wait. No one is suppose to talk "design" with me any more...I think they just do it now to see what will happen. I understand some would like to see a Kinkade theme on mian street in Placerville. "Mike McGee, director of the CSUF Grand Central Art Center at California State University Fullerton, has written of the Thomas Kinkade Heaven on Earth exhibition:[16] Looking just at the paintings themselves it is obvious that they are technically competent. Kinkade's genius, however, is in his capacity to identify and fulfill the needs and desires of his target audience—he cites his mother as a key influence and archetypal audience — and to couple this with savvy marketing ... If Kinkade's art is principally about ideas, and I think it is, it could be suggested that he is a Conceptual artist. All he would have to do to solidify this position would be to make an announcement that the beliefs he has expounded are just Duchampian posturing to achieve his successes. But this will never happen. Kinkade earnestly believes in his faith in God and his personal agenda as an artist." Yep--make my day ...lololol...since most dont know who "DuChamp" even is...

lololol...I believe it was on here that people made fun of my relative...I was just at a meeting where a representative from the Arts council--did not know the name "Duchamp"...even spelled it wrong...life is so funny. However, people went on and on about how wonderful the murals are at the Pollock Pines library--I believe they even have it written in their annual report to go see the on-going mural...bring on the bill broads.

Nutting has used the excuse of "freedom of speech" is why we need road signs. Apparently Mr. Nutting has never been to Maui or any other well designed city in the USA.....they make zoning laws that keep the area beautiful....Nutting and the BOS is peddling bull and think that we all believe them.....

Cheryl...another thought is that one can mention the pretty pink sign to the huge advertising co. that will now come in to record the many "main street" winners from across the nation...someone gave you guys a gift...the best part is that they will not always say when they are coming...because they will want to capture the wonderful "community" atmosphere. The "family" old town spirit...parades...fairs...wagon trains...
