Cameron Park GM causing ill will

EDITOR: In October of 2010 I wrote a letter to the editor praising our new general manager, Fred Smith. He was hired after a long and rigorous hiring process and a unanimous vote by the board. Within six months he had met and listened to members of the community, met with community organizations and did more to market the Community Center than has ever been done before. He was fired after 10 months.

Compare that with now: The Cameron Park CSD board has placed the community and staff in a position that forces some members of the community to speak out. Approximately 1 1/2 years ago the board hired a new GM, Mary Cahill. The problem is that she is not a manager. She has alienated many in the community that she has had contact with. She also has many problems with staff. Many have quit their job at the center.

Shortly after coming on board, she made a decision to attack and harass a quilt group that has a five-year contract with the center. This harassment continues to this date. Neither she nor the board has made any attempt to solve this problem.

A member of the community that owns a business has tried to use district facilities to run an event and has been given the run-around for months. She has no solutions for any of the district problems. Just excuses.

It is time for the board to terminate Ms. Cahills’ employment with the district and pay off her contract. She is causing nothing but ill will in Cameron Park and it’s time for her to move on.

Bill, Look up "Incompetency" in the dictionary and in my opinion, I'm pretty sure there is a picture of Cahill there.

What is her beef with the quilt group?

I completely agree with this letter. I would also add that she is toxic and incompetent. She's divided the community and is actively losing revenue for Cameron Park. Yet, the board renewed her contract - and not even for one year, but two. I also question legal counsel. Where does his allegiance lie? Like Congress, the CPCSD should be dismantled and competently put back together again. Very differently from how it is now. Currently, it is nothing but a huge disgrace.
