Carol Patton for City Council

EDITOR:

We have known Carol Patton for over 20 years, and are pleased she has decided to run for City Council. Rather than complain about the City, Carol has always given of her time and talents to make it better.

When Community Pride, Placerville’s beautification committee, was established in 1990, Carol volunteered to create the first adopt-a-spot garden. If you have enjoyed the hanging flower baskets on Main Street in Downtown Placerville, Carol had the vision, encouraged others to volunteer, spearheaded the fundraising, and helped plant the flowers and hang the baskets.

While serving on Placerville’s Planning Commission from 1992-2003, Carol demonstrated concern and sensitivity for our neighborhoods, our business districts and the historical integrity of our town. Like most of us who live here, she wanted high standards for new development, and worked to address the impacts of growth, always with an eye to the future. She treated the public, the applicants, the staff and her fellow commissioners with respect, and gave well-thought out reasons for the decisions she made.

As a former downtown business owner, Carol served on the Placerville Downtown Association Board and the Downtown Revitalization Committee, helping to support a vibrant downtown and a sense of community.

When Davey “Doc” Wiser’s stagecoach was worn out from giving free rides to people in downtown Placerville, Carol headed up the fundraising effort to have a new one built for him.

Carol has shown time and time again she has the integrity, the sensitivity, the knowledge and the dedication to serve the City well. I hope you will join us in voting for Carol Patton for Placerville City Council.

STEVE AND KATHI LISHMAN

Carol Patton and her best friend, the convicted Felon ex-Mayor of Placerville Dave Machado were great supporters of Redevelopment which cost Placerville plenty, even after it was apparent that Jerry Brown was intent on killing Redevelopment because it was nothing more than Crony Capitalism. Carol Patton was AGAINST the 1/4 of 1 percent sales tax that was suppose to alleviate the increase in Sewer and Water costs. Carol Patton was FOR and a driving supporter of the Roundabout which was KILLED by the local business community of Placerville because the Roundabout was a BOONDOGGLE. Carol Patton has been a disaster for Placerville.
