CEDAPP response

EDITOR:

Dorothea Falkenstein, mother of Wanda Flores, this year’s president of the Pollock Pines-Camino Chamber, certainly has the right to ask questions, and she is entitled to her opinions. She is not, however, entitled to contrive her own erroneous facts.

1. Jeanne Harper is not now, nor has she ever considered running for any political office.

2. Jeanne Harper doesn’t need people to write letters for her and has never asked anyone to write a letter for her.

3. Jeanne Harper is very proud to have close working relationships with all three of the Pollock Pines supervisors and many more of the El Dorado County staff. CEDAPP is proud to have a close working relationship with Supervisor Norma Santiago and has always been proud to have the same with Supervisor Ray Nutting and pledges to work with newly elected Bryan Veerkamp during his term, as well. That’s the way it should be in a democratic republic.

4. CEDAPP originated in 2007; the Pollock Pines-Camino Chamber under the charter of the Cameron Park/Shingle Spring Chamber came into being about three years ago.

5. CEDAPP has repeatedly invited mutual collaboration and communication to the Pollock Pines-Camino Chamber and to individual board members, as well. All such invitations have either been ignored or denied.

6. Five years ago, CEDAPP brought back the much loved Wagon Train welcome in Pollock Pines (Wagons In The Pines) after many years of the Wagon Train passing through with no stop. This was at the request of the community at large and working closely with Vi Tara and other wagon train officials, community businesses, residents and county officials, such as Supervisor Nutting. Literally hundreds of people have been involved with this now annual event and hundreds more attend each year as we strive to bring more business to the businesses of Pollock Pines. CEDAPP continues to enjoy a close relationship with Highway 50 Association and conducts additional supportive events including the Wagon Train throughout the year.

7. Declining enrollment in schools is due to people moving away, not only in Pollock Pines, but throughout our state, and probably many others, too. Why? Take a course on economics.

8. Dictators don’t invite whole communities to meet with them and make decisions about their own destiny.

In summary, CEDAPP seeks to support and promote Pollock Pines in a 100 percent inclusive operation … every resident, every business and every organization, including the Pollock Pines-Camino Chamber. To that end, we will continue to function as we try to maintain the pristine heritage of our community. And we invite the PP-C Chamber to work with us as we work with all other organizations in town. There is a communal need for each of the organizations, not as silos, but as inherent components of a much loved community.

Jeanne Harper states, “The service organizations in every community provide the community frosting on the cake, especially during times of difficult economy when businesses are strapped and individuals are feeling a bit hopeless and frustrated. There is always something we can do to make things better. Doing it in larger, connected numbers makes sense and builds a stronger community.”
