Child Protective Services

EDITOR:

Child Protective Services (CPS) — What a joke. And not a funny one. Children living with a stable parent, with no criminal background, happy, being cared for and loved, forced by a judge to have trial period with unstable parent, with criminal background, whom children do not want to be with and warned something bad would happen if this was permitted. Same day — something bad did happen — children taken and put in foster care and not allowed to be put back in stable parent’s custody where they want to be.

Nine months later — after missing Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day, Spring break, Easter, Summer Vacation, beginning day of school year — still in foster care because of “court system,” causing permanent damage mentally and physically for the rest of their (children’s) lives.

Where is the “P” in CPS? Don’t know how the judge sleeps at night.

Janice I am sorry you have had such a bad experience with CPS. I was in a similar situation where my ex who is a Felon was trying to get out of child support by accusing me of abuse, and it took 2 months and a call to a wonderful State Senator to contact CPS and tell them to get a report done, with a result of unfounded allegations. My daughter came back a completely different child after the whole ordeal. She has really never been the same. We found that CPS has some terrible practices and caseworkers. I am sure there will be those who will praise them, but that isn't help for those of us affected by a broken system.

I hope people understand whats going its all money the California Little Hoover commission made up of two senators four people from the assembly districts and five citizens , in 2004 they said 70 percent of the children taken from the parents should have not have been taken away in the first place also the report shows that over 20 percent of the children in California are in foster care its really sad whats going on.
