‘Despicable’ fee

EDITOR:

To whomever reads this:

I have never written a letter to the newspaper before, but I think its time to. There have been several letters about the new Cal Fire tax, excuse me, fee, and I think people would like to hear what has happened to me, in case it should happen to someone else.

My husband and I have been residents of El Dorado County since moving here from Folsom in 1961. We lived in a trailer park in Folsom and bought some property here and moved our trailer here, as there were no trailer laws of any kind at that time. In 1972 we traded our 48 x 8-foot wide in for a new 60 x 12 wide trailer and moved it onto our property here. The decal number was on the trailer and we kept it registered as well as paid our property taxes.

My husband passed away March 17, 1999, and everything was put into my name and copies of his death certificate were sent to the housing department in Sacramento and the records department in Placerville.

Well guess what? This week I received a bill for a Cal Fire Fee for my husband with the decal number on it and a separate bill for me with the parcel number on it. He has been dead for 13 1/2 years.

I think that is one of the most despicable things that someone could ever do to an 82-year-old widow on a fixed budget.

Thank you for your time.

Isn't it great to know that you will be paying the lifetime pensions and healthcare for the very people who billed you twice. And that the reason for this "fee" in the first place is because of the public sector pension debt.
