Disappointed, but not surprised

EDITOR:

I picked up my copy of Friday’s (Nov. 9) edition, and lo and behold, there were nice big bold headlines on the front page of the winners of candidates supported by the Mountain Democrat, but not one single bold headline reporting the results of the election of the President of the United States. If you read the column regarding the fact that the local voters remained conservative, then you got the figures for the Presidential election. However, they were skewered by the fact that the El Dorado County residents supported the eventual runner-up. This is certainly not surprising considering the policy and leaning of the Mountain Democrat. However, would it have been too painful to at least report that there was a winner of the election for President? Perhaps you should change the name of the paper to the “Mountain Republican.” It would certainly be more fitting.

Maybe they didn’t report the presidential results because the bulk of the county votes conservative and we don’t really care about the result other than having to endure four more years of depression. Or maybe by Friday it was old news and most conservatives were back at work figuring out how to continue paying for the liberals?

Where you not aware of who won the presidental election? The name “Mountain Democrat” comes from a time period when “Democrat” had a meaning which is the polar opposite of todays definition. Etymology is the study of the meaning of words over time. The miners, shop keepers and settlers of this area 150 years ago had no idea that they were responsible to provide housing, income, cellphones, healthcare, groceries, transportation and all the other wants of those who don’t want to work.

cookie65, continued belief in ridiculous stereotypes about Democrats accomplish nothing other than confirm that taxpaying, home-owning, working people like myself will continue to vote Democratic as we have absolutely no desire to participate in a party where so many constituents are so completely disconnected from reality.

Mr. Christ, if Mitt had won, the print announcing it on the first page would have been bigger that their print announcing the end of World War II. Such sore losers.

I am not surprised that the Mt. Democrat did not acknowledge OUR president. This lack really exemplifies the attitudes of the far right. The press is to report the news, no matter if the Editor agrees or disagrees, no matter if the readers are of one majority or the other. This is an aspect of integrity and respect for their institution and it’s readers. In addition, Chuck we are not, or have been in a depression thanks to the Democrats, and no thanks to the far right, obstructionist Congress liberals. Educate yourself before you run your mouth!

It looks like the MD dropped the ball on that one. For the record I was the first in our county to inform Chicago of this overt act of defiance. I’m sure that Obama will get to the bottom of this quicker than you can say Benghazi, Fast and Furious. This is a travesty and heads will roll!!!!!
