To Special Taxes Remittance Processing, State Board of Equalization,
It is with great trepidation that I send this letter along with my payment for this unexpected, unplanned for, and egregious tax. What has happened to our previously wonderful golden state? It is inconceivable to me that in a shrinking and critical economy that our “public servants” can by incomprehensible and questionable legality force me by fiat to lower my standard of living with no choice but to comply. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to ask portions of our government to accomplish their given tasks within the same fiscal restraints as in previous years.
Our country was founded by our ancestors because they did not like “taxation without representation.” If this exorbitant tax is a “tax with representation,” then it is perfectly clear that it is imperative for us to change our representatives.
Thank you.

I have an idea. How about El Dorado County joining with the other rural counties effected by this illegal tax and all secede from the State of California. ;)

How about you take this fight to CAL-Fire and the legislature where it was passed? The Board of Equalization is only tasked with collecting it and had no say in it's passing.
