Can’t answer the median staff question. But in this day and age many well qualified people would jump at the chance to earn EID’s non-median salaries. So we’re back to the standard of comparison question. Employees everywhere, given the chance, will push for the highest possible salaries. What can EID and El Dorado ratepayers afford? And, down the line, at what ultimate cost?

Mr Raveling, by your chosen criteria EID salaries are not excessive. As you say, what matters is what’s being compared. Apples to apples, etc., etc., etc. So you and EID wouldn’t find persuasive the fact that a couple months ago the US Census Bureau told us that median HOUSEHOLD incomes stand at $50,054. Perhaps EID employees will manage to scrape by, even though poverty stricken compared to El Dorado Hills Fire Dept. How about them apricots?
