There are lots of accusations floating around regarding Dr. Coco’s support from the PAC that includes farmers, the El Dorado County Chamber, builders and developers — Parker Development to be specific. Let’s be very clear about this:
Jake Flesher went to Parker Development with his hand out. He would gladly have taken the very same support as Dr. Coco if he had been given the opportunity. He was not given that opportunity. Parker, the chamber, builders, the farmers, the wineries, all turned him down because what they all want is a functioning water board that will protect our water rights so we are not forced to sell them off to another entity outside of our county. They chose Dr. Dale Coco because he has the knowledge, time and ability to protect the ratepayer and protect our water rights as well.
I’d like to point out that not only is Dr. Coco supported by the above, but he is also supported by former supervisor Bill Center, slow-growth and even no-growth groups. One of the most remarkable and noteworthy things about Dr. Coco is that he has been able to put together the most diverse group of supporters this county has ever seen. He has been able to do that because of his integrity: Everyone trusts him. Let us also remember that the EID Board of Directors does not make decisions regarding developments. Those decisions are made by the Board of Supervisors.
Jake has a young family, he runs a business consisting of two law offices, both outside our county. Realistically, how much time is Jake going to have to represent us in Sacramento to protect our water rights? How much time is he going to have to devote to you and me? What is his personal agenda?
I believe he will use his position on EID (if he gets elected) as a stepping stone to higher office. He is thinking of himself, not you and me. Dr. Coco has no political ambitions beyond EID. He is a retired doctor (and a good one) who really cares about this county and wants to give back. That’s his agenda.
And lastly, all of Dr. Coco’s money comes from inside our county. Most of Jake’s money comes, not only from outside the county, but outside the state (Texas, Washington, D.C.). He has only been able to raise a few hundred dollars inside El Dorado County. If he is such a great choice for El Dorado County, why haven’t the people and businesses of El Dorado County supported him? Could it be the reality is that El Dorado County feels that Dr. Coco is our best choice and our best chance for a better future, with clean, affordable, water that belongs to us? The answer is yes. Please support Dr. Dale Coco for EID board.
