Extend Hangtown Haven

By
From page A5 | November 11, 2013 | 8 Comments

EDITOR:

This is a plea to our City Council to please extend the requested extension of Hangtown Haven. Through their organization, running safely, they have become a national example of how our country’s homeless can be self sufficient while they try to bring some kind of normalcy back into their lives.

How can you read their personal stories of hardships, which most of us can’t even relate to, and not give them an opportunity to continue striving to improve their situations? Please do the right thing, extend their extension and help them continue to live safely.

guy asks: "HAS ANYONE! CHECKED OUT THE INCREASE OF CRIME IN THE SURROUNDING AREA!" i read the report given by the placerville chief of police recently. no where in it are percentages of homeless people who committed these crimes.

Hangtown Haven has turned the wonderful city of Placerville into a ghetto. I see it first hand since my home is on upper Broadway.

I totally agree. I live on Smith Flat Rd. Our homes have been broken into. They sleep in our yard and go through our trash. I'm done.

Unless you live in the immediate area like we do, people just don't get it. Our lives have been a nightmare since the HH has moved in. People deficating and urinating in our driveway. Not to mention the drug deals we've seen. I could go.on and on.

Face it Placerville Homeless have been turned into Placerville Homemore..given a place to panhandle, steal, harrass and be given more than tax paying citizens. Then defended by those who don't live anywhere near the carnage caused by them, Again look into those who are commiting the crimes and jail them. Remove the element and return the area back to the citizens and chalk this up to a try that didn't work, Those who say thet it has worked don't live there nor have become victims, it's easy to say that if we look the other way it's ok. More bad than good has resulted and no one can justify it's existance, there are no requirements or accountability so why should they go or not increase in number; result: a bad solution to a problem created by a few who benefit from crime at the tax payers loss. Deal with the ones who are willing to rise above their problems and become productive and loose the Haven for drug users/abusers, theves and the like.. the jail has room don't ignor crime and criminals.
