As political lines are drawn I’d have to be characterized as the “left”. It is a reckless mischaracterization to say that I don’t care about the Constitution, prosperity, the 2nd Amendment, small business or the middle class. Being continuously stuck in and amplifying the US/THEM dichotomy is a trap set for us. We are not required to voluntarily walk into it. And continuously unthinkingly and deliberately using that ploy hardens the lines, stifling meaningful communication and aborting problem solving.

Not to draw any conclusions that would make anyone on the left uncomfortable, but what I am gathering from this is that we have spent roughly the equivilant of our national debt on the war on poverty and we have the same or worse poverty than all the nations that haven’t spent any? That causes me another question, have any of those other countries had the same expansion of government that we have enjoyed here or is that just a coincidence too? One might be led to believe that the money spent on the war on poverty has gone to expand government cause it sure hasn’t done anything for the poor. Thanks to dumocrat logic we are frantically persuing the strategy of throwing even more good money after bad. All of this would be so much easier for me if I had attended school after they invented the “new math”.

Chronic adult homelessness, as opposed to folks who have suffer a temporary losses, is often due to criminal records. If, for example, you are an 18-year-old who has sex with a 14-year-old, I’m pretty sure you spend your life marked as a sex offender. If you get too drunk or experience a psychosis and get arrested, you might even become a felon. So, while poverty is an issue in the USA, we might want to look at expungement laws, and consider the way various events give people life long criminal records.

• More than one out of every five of our children CURRENTLY LIVE IN POVERTY.
• According to U.S. Census data, 57% of ALL American children live in a home considered either “poor” or “low income” ********** These kids must just “raise themselves up by their bootstraps”, like our ancestors did. Strike out for those wide open lands and claim some for yourselves. Or get a job. I hear they’re hiring in China.
