Fireworks on Saturday night

By From page A5 | August 21, 2013

Unbelievable! While sitting all day Saturday, Aug. 17 watching the air tankers drop retardant and water on the American Fire, we watched in disbelief as the party on the hillside across from our house in Pilot Hill lit off fireworks.

Really? After calling 911 and directing deputies out to the site off Rattlesnake Bar Road and Starling Road, we watched all night as deputies rounded up the underage drinkers and cited them.

Thank you deputies for calling us back and for searching for embers for hours after the party was broken up. Thank goodness there were no fires caused by this.

Parents please discuss the ongoing fire with your children and stress the need to be extra careful during this high fire season.

I still can’t believe what we saw after 20 years living on the divide, and our worst fear here is fire. To watch this unfold without a fire starting, we all truly dodged a bullet on Saturday night.
