First Amendment

EDITOR:

I am responding to Katie Meyer’s letter in the Dec. 13 edition.

She states the obvious, that Christians are a majority in the U.S., and asks me, “…what would make you think we are a secular nation?”

Well, Katie, it’s not what I think, it’s what I know. With the First Amendment to the Constitution, Jefferson, Adams, Washington and the other Founding Fathers insured that no one can impose his or her religion on any of us, including you and me. Isn’t that great?

We are a nation with a Christian majority. Our government is and always will be secular.

Dee, as you might have noticed, I'm on a "Larson binge". I was a subscriber to the Chronicle when the paper signed Gary Larsen. I was a dairy farmer at the time. Larsen had staked out a peculiar middle earth perspective with respect to cows vis-a-vis "reality". We bonded. LINK - The Chronicle arrived at the milk barn @ 5:)) AM

I love them Phil, I used to give the daily Far Side calendars for Christmas that had a cartoon for everyday. He is a genius. They are timeless.

Government mandated religion is the central theme of the union run education system. http://www.myfoxny.com/Story/24243275/fla-school-named-for-south-general-to-be-changed

The government mandated religion of leftism sees the bill of rights as an obstacle. Their dreams of utopia cannot be instituted unless freedom is seriously curtailed. Their incremental attacks against the 1st Amendment are no different than their attacks against the 2nd Amendment. There are those however who are standing up to the religion of statism. http://www.nysun.com/editorials/the-faithful-sheriffs/88520/

Bill of Rights: Originated in England 1689 -- extended to all British Colonies. ......... Was NOT included with the 'Articles of Confederation' (Ratified Feb. 1787) ......... States with their separate laws were holding people in jail with no charges and no right to trials..... One state declared ONLY ONE OFFICIAL RELIGION (Catholic) ...... In LESS than 6 months....An emergency conference called the founding fathers back .... Re-wrote the Constitution.... It says: ......... "We the people of the United states, IN ORDER TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION"........ They added the Bill Of Rights.... (Per Thomas Jefferson's letter to James Madison, March 1787)... Constitution ratified September 1787 ......

Here is part of the leftist assault on the 1st Amendment. Believe in the religion of leftism or face consequences. http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/19/showbiz/duck-dynasty-suspension/index.html
