Drugs at the festival

EDITOR:

I talked to several sheriff’s staff yesterday and today about smoking drugs at the music festival site this year.

Thank you for organizing the festival every year; this year was the seventh. I attended last year also and enjoyed, but not this year’s festival because of marijuana smoking beside me on the grass, behind the children playing area and behind the restaurants tent and other places.

I saw at least seven people including a couple. I reported it to the staff, who said OK to smoke at the smoking spot, and they said it was legal in California, saying they do not know because they were just volunteer workers. So I talked to a guard at the site that said medical marijuana is OK and they could not check to ask smokers. I had to talk to the “manager.”

She surprisingly told me that it is OK in the public park such as the American River side, here, and the lady who was called manager and another lady said they were not minding smoking. They even said to me if I could ask people in this music site whether they minded or not, they might say it would be OK to smoke. I said even mothers who brought lots of children playing over there might say all right to smoke at this enjoyable music Festival? And then the manager told me that it was not place to argue the drugs matter, so I should bring it to “Robby, ” the city or some place.

I examined the California law after coming home below and reported to police. They promised that they would do heavy patrolling for next Music Festival.

We are truly looking forward attending American River Music festival next year also. Please make sure every one is safe and no one is smoking drugs at the festival. Thank you for your time and effort to continue to have the American River Music festival for our community.
