Kathy Hardy at the forest service has done it again, she has closed our forest early again. As the rightful owners of the U.S. National Forest, we knew when you were appointed to that position that you would do everything in your power to run us out. We, the taxpaying citizens of this county that love to ride in this forest do not accept your decision. Those of us that moved here years ago and those that were born and raised here will continue to ride whenever and wherever we wish. You and the Dept. of Ag are a joke and we do not recognize your rules and regs. When you took the job you said that you were OHV friendly and that you would do everything you could to keep our forest open to all. We all know that you are a puppet and you are controlled by the enviro-nuts. You have no regard for the business owners or the citizens of this county and you have done everything to systematicly close our forest to the people that own it. So this next week in the paper we will see layoff notices to your employees that work in the areas that you have closed, right? Oh, I forgot, the local, state, and Federal workers are never hurt by the assinine decisions made by people that have no right to be in that position in the first place.
As of this year, I will no longer pay the green sticker blood money to DMV to not ride in my forest. I urge all of you OHVers to do the same. The U.S. Forest depends on green sticker money to do things to keep us out of where we go to play. This letter is not directed towards all employees of the U.S.F., just the ones that make the decisions to do the wrong thing.

Yeah, I wanted to go mudding last weekend, and mean Kathy spoiled my fun. Nothing like 2-foot ruts and mud up to your eyeballs – it’s the American way.
Well with the amount of rain we have had here locally, I think it was the right decision and not asinine of the USFS. The dirt roads on hills end up being impassable with ruts and tire tracks. More and more damage can be done in the wet season. Yes, you will make some angry but others will be glad to be able to use those areas with no threat of yahoos flying along in their 4x’s ( I am sure they are all flatlanders, as no local would do that).
They closed the 40 plus roads because of meadows, they said by putting tire tracks across the meadow that it would allow the moisture to dissipate faster than if left pristine. Instead of closing the roads and instead of filling and repairing the meadows all they needed to do was to lay bleeder mats and raise the road a few inches above the meadow grade. That would have stopped the evaporation process and left the roads open to the public. This shows me that they have no intentions of leaving our forest for the citizens; they never want to try an alternative method because there way is the only way; which is a fallacy. They always try to make you believe that they are working with you, but they always turn a deaf ear when it comes to alternatives, we lose they win. The decision to close the roads to full size 4x4s is not a bad decision but they could leave them open to ATV’s

Make no mistake our rights are being impinged upon more and more. After 100 years of forestry mis-management, we are now told to believe Kathy and her overpaid staff have the right to tell us how and when to access our National Forest? I see a locked gate, I open it on site. Problem solved.
Consider this! The 5,000 logging roads the Government allowed and allows to exist in the Eldo contribute a heck of a lot more to erosion than a few thousand off roaders a year.
