‘Green’ a politically charged code word

EDITOR:

I was tickled a tax-deductible pink that the Democrat brought right to my house the articles of Agenda 21 education.

A letter from Patty Karapinar (6/6/12) in these pages caught my eye. She says, “I am a Republican who has promoted and practiced ‘green’ building design for over 11 years.”

Will you please call it good design if it is good design? Why would it be a color? Kermit the frog exited about the time “green” came in.

Especially as a Republican, it should come quite naturally now that “green” is a politically charged code word. A key word of the seduction from the left, unsponsored.

Biblically, it is not wise to be a steward of the environment where the thief can sneak in at night and seed a mind asleep in administration problems.

Sorry, June, but GREEN has become de rigueur, no getting around it. $$$billion industries depend on the frequency with which the word GREEN is used. Somewhere buried deep within planning regulations and funding guidelines, printed on recycled paper of course, almost certainly there are pages and pages of code about how many times the word GREEN must appear. Absent knowing where to find those regulations and guidelines, undoubtedly soon to become hard law, a good rule of thumb for establishing the correct frequency for using the modifier GREEN, turn to the United Nations document "Working towards a Balanced and Inclusive GREEN Economy". In the course of 204 riveting pages GREEN appears 1.062 times, for an average 5.2058823 times per page. Of course, flexibility is allowed. It may be assumed, probably correctly, that any building design or grant application – or whatever – could slide through with only FIVE (5) instances per page. This brief GREEN comment is over zealously GREEN, the modifier GREEN appearing nine (9) times.

You two are so true. While red and pinko were appropriately known to be communists colors decades ago, you are correct, green is now a politically charged word, part of a vast left wing conspiracy among liberals to infiltrate and corrupt the minds of the unsuspecting public. Those who think green means environmentally friendly, such as sustainable resources, are very naive. I no longer believe in ham and green eggs, to scramble your metaphor. I don’t want the yoke to be on us. Don’t go red, pink or green. Fight the green conspiracy. Go yellow! You know, like ham and yellow eggs.

Be GREEN to be seen. Just six (6) days to Rio +20: A GREEN gathering of more than 130 GREEN world leaders flying in from every part of the world in GREEN airplanes, lodging at the finest GREEN hotels and using only the best GREEN transportation upon arrival. Thousands of GREEN business executives, GREEN mayors, GREEN civil society groups, GREEN youth and indigenous peoples, are expected to produce a number of GREEN outcomes. One of the most important will be a GREEN political document to be agreed by the UN’s 193 Member GREEN States that accelerates action on the GREEN sustainable development agenda. Rio+20 will also launch many GREEN initiatives and GREEN commitments by GREEN governments, GREEN businesses, GREEN civil society groups and GREEN others. Be there!!!

UN CENSORSHIP: RIO EARTH SUMMIT TEXT IS NOW SECRET -- SENIOR OFFICIAL OF 'TRANSPARENT' UN ADMITS RIO NEGOTIATING TEXT IS CLASSIFIED: “This key document, containing all of the environmental conference's decisions, is now restricted to governmental delegates only. The UN's panic decision to classify the Rio negotiating text follows . . . exposure of the strange proposals in the Durban text – which gave “Mother Earth” the right to sue Western nations in a new “International Climate Court”, and suggested that CO2 concentration should be halved (which would wipe out most plant and animal species on Earth) – [leading] to the hasty abandonment of half of the text the day before negotiations were concluded.” @ http://climatedepot.com/a/16354/UN-Censorship-Rio-Earth-Summit-text-is-now-secret--Senior-official-of-transparent-UN-admits-Rio-negotiating-text-is-classified

Go “green”, meanwhile . . . “EXPERTS FIND 30 TRILLION GALLONS OF TOXIC LIQUID INJECTED BY U.S. INDUSTRIES INTO EARTH, POISONS GROUND WATER: In 2010, contaminants from such a well bubbled up in a west Los Angeles dog park. Within the past three years, similar fountains of oil and gas drilling waste have appeared in Oklahoma and Louisiana. In South Florida, 20 of the nation’s most stringently regulated disposal wells failed in the early 1990s, releasing partly treated sewage into aquifers that may one day be needed to supply Miami’s drinking water.” @ http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/06/21/experts-find-30-trillion-tons-of-toxic-liquid-injected-into-earth-poisons-ground-water/

From Sourcewatch.org, "ClimateDepot.com is the website of Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow employee Marc Morano, a conservative global warming denier who previously served as environmental communications director for a vocal political denier of climate change, Republican Sen. James Inhofe. ClimateDepot.com is being financed by the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, a nonprofit in Washington that advocates for free-market solutions to environmental issues. Public tax filings for 2003-7 (the last five years for which documents are available) show that the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the ExxonMobil Foundation and foundations associated with the billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, a longtime financier of conservative causes, including being the primary source of money used to fund attacks against Bill Clinton during the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky eras of his presidency." What Evelyn posted may be true, but her source is heavily biased towards the petrol industry and therefore is suspect as to it's credibility.

when I try to find other sources to back up Evelyn's Climatedepot claim about the 'transparency' issue there is nothing, they all link back to Climatedepot, which appears to be the originating source. That just shows the anti-globalwarming propaganda machine in action.

Arnold Lange and tinmann raise valid questions about source. So far I'm unable, however, to find a UN document of decisions taken at Rio. What I DO find is the Reuters article RIO+20 ENDING WITH WEAK TEXT, EMBOLDENED OBSERVERS which includes this: "Most troubling for many critics of the summit is the fact that leaders arrived in Rio de Janeiro merely to sign a text that their diplomats had all-but sealed beforehand." http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/22/un-climate-idUSL1E8HLJ8Z20120622 http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/22/un-climate-idUSL1E8HLJ8Z20120622

P.S. Logically (logically?!) one would expect to find the Rio conference decisions documented at ********** http://www.uncsd2012.org/ ********** or at ********* http://www.un.org/en/ ********* As soon as someone DOES locate this (presently) elusive document, PLEASE POST THE LINK.

In the off off chance that anyone has the slightest interest, a Rio document titled THE FUTURE WE WANT. Issued June 19th (the day before the conference began) it was reissued on June 22nd (the closing day). I do not know if this is the document referenced by Climate Depot. Clearly it's about SUSTAINABILITY, having using the word "sustainable" 383 times in the course of 53 pages and 283 numbered paragraphs. Happy reading! http://daccess-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/N12/381/64/PDF/N1238164.pdf?OpenElement
