Halloween

EDITOR:

I would like to express sincere thanks to the Placerville Raley’s and Director John Phillips for contributing $100 of candy to the Deer Crossing subdivision to help us out on Halloween. We are located near the intersection on Highway 49 and Combellack Road.

For many years our neighborhood has been the “go-to” spot for trick-or-treating in Placerville after the downtown merchants candy giveaway has concluded. We barricade the streets and limit vehicles to residents and guests only so that it is a safe walking experience for children and parents. We typically pass out candy to approximately 1,200-1,500 trick-or-treaters. So, as you can imagine, we give out a lot of candy and appreciate Raley’s help.

Hey Phil, this could make for a good electric fence story.

I would like to provide a second thank you to Placerville Raley's. We are indeed fortunate to have a civic minded and generous retailer who continually gives back to the community. I would also like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the volunteer's of S.T.A.R for providing a safety crew to help man the barricades and crosswalks. Their donation of time and manpower ensure everyone is safe. Another "Thank You" is sent out to the City of Placerville for providing the barricades and the crews to deliver and pick them up. It really does take village to raise a child. Hopefully these times of family bonding and tradition can be passed down to future generations. Thanks also to the courteous parents who instructed their children on the proper etiquette of staying off lawns and landscaping. And lets not forget all the "Thank Yous" you taught your children to return for a bit of candy. Thank you All.

Curse those brain-dead takers, who think they're entitled to free candy! Another not-so-unintended consequence of the leftism that's ruined this county!
