My daughter Megan (Murphy) Travis is a SSgt. in the Air Force, stationed in Belgium. She attended Silva Valley, Rolling Hills and Oak Ridge. I told her what had happened to SSgt. Mote and I knew it would matter, because SSgt. was a fellow serviceperson and because his dad was one of her favorite teachers. I sent her a link of photos of people lining the street for the procession and below is what she posted on Facebook. I was so touched by what she wrote and am so very proud of her. Anyway, I thought perhaps you might find a place to note this somewhere amid the other writings about SSgt. Mote. I would be so pleased if Mr. Mote could see this as well.
“I am absolutely amazed and touched by everyone who went out to support SSgt. Mote last night. I cried just looking at the pictures … maybe because it’s my home or because I’m in the military. It makes me, as a service member, feel so appreciated, even by people I’ll never know. Thank you El Dorado County for your support and thank you SSgt. Mote for your service.”
