The myth of Confiscation is an absolute must for these nut jobs, because without it there is not much to get all worked up about. The President has not advocated nor will he advocate anything but minor, uncontroversial fixes to the gun situation. Even gun advocates will agree that criminals should not have guns, and even anti-gun advocates will acknowledge that criminals will never be completely deterred from obtaining a gun if they are determined. So, for both camps, background checks are an acceptable, if not wholly effective, measure. Since nobody has proposed any confiscatory legislation, the gun paranoiacs must project that confiscation is “the next step”, in order to rationalize their hysteria. This fits in just fine with the NRA agenda, which is to advance the interests of the gun manufacturers, not gun owners. Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans desire reasonable controls on firearms, and the infantile Beck and Limbaugh conspiracy addicts will be left to await their imaginary armaggedon.

The ones that don’t receive help have all the money and a good government job, they can set out any monetary failure to the system, they don’t care whether or not self starters and freedom lovers have any freedom; they are secure in their little bubble. If it wasn’t for the welfare program no democrat would ever get elected to office, they thrive and depend on those that receive instead of the ones that give. Only a true freedom loving American would want to have little government as the founders of this great nation wished. Big government is the reason that we are in the fix that we are in now; so all of you grantees stick your head in the sand and kiss your freedom bye because by the time the next election comes around America will be bankrupt. Then and then only we may be able to put together a nation that is self sustaining and not dependent on our government for growth, the system will be the incentive for growth. Cllea, if you consider me to be anti-government, actually your issue with me is I am anti-leftist, anti-socialism, anti-collectivism, you should read the entire text of the Declaration of Independence. Those guys were anti-government and because of their view on centralized government you live in a country were you wake up everyday with the exact same freedoms I have. When you read it imagine that these subjects of the British Empire not only were slapping the Monarch, King George, the ruler of the most powerful empire on the planet at that time, in the face with a glove but the glove had a shovel in it. Wake up to the reality that the freest place in the history of civilizations came about because of people who were ANTI-GOVERNMENT. I realize for people like you government is your security blanket and standing on your own two feet is thought to be unfair and puts you at a disadvantage because of people who have marketable skills and a work ethic but they owe you nothing. Answer this question: is wealth spread by creating more of it, or is wealth spread by confiscating more of it? If you don’t know the answer to that question it is because you don’t want to.

The framers of the Constitution debated at length whether or not to even esablish a federal government because of the exact reasons we are witnessing today. Cookie65: assault weapons are designed specifically for killing people. Currently, people need transportation more than they need guns. We’re in 2013 here. I have no problem whatsoever with my driving rights being restricted. Your right to own guns may be restricted. Just like your 1st Amendment rights are restricted. And I’m not sure what I’m supposed to “get over.” My issue with assault weapons puts me with the majority in this country.
