DB Smith, I have to agree with you — it would be fun sitting in one’s car and going up and down, up and down. But, as to my logic flaw I doubt there would be enough car elevators in America to impact the job market. You can work hard and wish, but the probability of you ever getting a car elevator is slim to none. And, isn’t that the hook for the working man to be a Tea/Republican — letting the elite rob us blind because someday the working man will be the elite? A fool’s quest. Work hard, make your life a success, but that won’t include being in the elite for 99.5% of us.
P.S. If you ever get a car elevator, can I sit in your car with you and go up and down, up and down.

Your logic is flawed James E.. When you omit the car elevator ~ you then omit the job inspector, you then omit the elevator installers, you then omit the fabricators of the elevator, you then eliminate the elevator maintenance personnel, you then omit all future inpectors of the elevator and then you would omit all of the taxes/fees that would be collected for the job. Finally you would omit all the fun of taking your car up and down the elevator. Now look at how many jobs your little Dem/Lib keyboard just eliminated. Your logic is depressing. The election in 2020 will put Mrs. Clinton back in the White House for her second term. Sorry, Congressman Ryan. Business owners haven’t screwed up the country (economy), lack of demand has screwed up the economy. And it’s the ultra rich who need to pay more taxes even if they have to omit the car elevator in their mansion. As for business owners and taxes, I’ll let the Congress decide if business owners with a yearly bottom line profit of $1 million or more need to pay more taxes.

32 comments regarding Mr Schumann’s letter. 15 from the Right, 15 from the Left, 2 I can’t tell. Not one post from the Left listing how Obama is a job creator. Not one accomplishment regarding 4 years as the leader of this country? What I do read from the Left is that the economic situation is not only fine but improving. That business owners have screwed up this country and need to be punished. That business owners don’t pay a “fair share” in taxes. There was a time when I thought words like that were for political expediency or at the very least ignorance. I was wrong. The majority of people today do not believe in the American Dream. Either they never achieved theirs or do not like the game and want to play a new game. If the majority of people who vote in this election, historically 50%, vote for President Obama, then our country will be at the very least a European Socialist type of government for many generations. If Romney is elected, I’ll have to wait 8 years with the hope that Paul Ryan wins the election in 2020 to witness for the first time a true fiscal conservative in charge our our government. That’s what I have to look forward to. Just 8 short years baby.

Mr. Schumann’s letter is troubling mostly because he seems to actually believe that Mr. Romney was a “job creator.” The success of companies that Bain Capital invested in or leveraged was, from what I can find, about 50/50. Not a stellar track record, but somewhere along the way, Mr. Romney and others still became phenomenally wealthy. The question is, how much of that wealth came from growth of the successful companies, and how much came from piling up loans, paying himself huge consulting fees, getting restructuring tax breaks, then bankrupting the companies and having a fire sale. In my career, I had an opportunity to see guys like Romney in action, and believe me, you don’t want that type of person in a governance role. Let Romney go help Meg Whitman turn around HP, if he’s so talented. She recently admitted it would take more than 4 years.

I never said the guy worked and received money under the table I just said he didn’t look for work until he used the 90 whatever months that he was out of work. And, if you do have a friend, you don’t seem to mind him being one of the animals that should not be fed with unemployment benefits (while getting paid under the table). Gets unemployment benefits while working and also doesn’t pay taxes on his under the table earnings. Is he a Tea/Republican like you?
And, as for my storytelling, I have no friends getting unemployment benefits while getting paid under the table, so unlikely I can tell stories about it.

I want to say to those who are cheer leading for Obama/Biden to calm down you are in charge and just point out all the great accomplishments our President has done these past 4 years and you’ll win.
I have been curious as to the marketing approach of both Fox and NBC regarding this “fiscal cliff” that our politicians approved. Both sides state that Draconian budget cuts and huge tax increases will systematically occur throwing our country into a recession. It appears to me that they came up with a bi-partisan way to balance our budget. Now they are trying to convince America that if the plan they voted for is implemented then America is committing economic suicide? The image of Cleavon Little holding a gun to his own head to avoid being lynched in Blazing Saddles comes to mind. He’s holding himself hostage while screaming help me! help me! All the while a old lady is stranding in the crowd saying won’t somebody help that poor man. Irony…

I have employed as many as 20 tax paying citizens and covered them completely with health care.
