Stacey,

Thank you for caring.

You should be pleased to know your fellow citizens/taxpayers of the County of El Dorado are tremendous stewards of Lake Tahoe's clarity. Literally we have spent tens of millions of dollars. Our county has exceeded every standard set by the Lahanton Water Quailty Control Board.

Now, as reward for our stewardship, Lahanton changed the rules by placing a $1.6 billion new tax burden to underwrite their " 20 year goal seeking 6 additional feet of clarity challenge".

This $1.6 billion expenditure will be measured annually by dropping a secchi dish into the middle of the lake and making a eyeball determination of how clear the lake is that day.

This challenge will cost County of El Dorado taxpayers/citizens, (my back of the envelope numbers) $133,000,000 payable over next 20 years.

Our entire discretionary general fund used to run law enforcement, health and human services and general government runs $120,000,000 thereabouts , depending on year.

Lahanton says not to worry, they will help us by showing new ways to levy forfeitures on people, business and governments. Incredible!

You know, if the county had $13,000,000 a year to spend, on a list of 1,000 things to spend it on Lake Tahoe calrity would not be on my list.

Lake Tahoe clarity, absolutley!

$13,000,000 of new taxes, NO!

Respectfully,
Ron Briggs

According to the most recent studies by people who want funding to study the lake. The lake clarity has increased over the last 5 years. It is unimaginable for them to report such a thing. It would be like the global warming fraudsters admitting that so-called global warming stopped 16 years ago. They recently legalized commercial fishing of crayfish on the California side which they predict will improve the lake claity because the lake is overpopulated with crayfish. Everything in this universe is cyclical. It may have been before you were born but algore and a bunch of other envirowacko's spent @ $50million of taxpayer money studying granite erosion in Tahoe basin. Information is a good thing, indoctination is not.
