Who said that?
“Reams of research, here and abroad, indicates that the most reliable predictor of someone being shot is the ready availability of guns.” Hmmmm, I am positive, without doing any research, that the probability of being shot with a gun becomes vanishingly small if there are no guns anywhere on the planet. Our Sheriff lives in this world, and there are always, and there will be for some time to come no matter what we do now, guns.
Come on, while I enjoy reading your letters on each side of the gun issue, that is not the problem that I see. For some reason there is a mental state in which a person takes a weapon and kills as many children and others as they can before committing suicide. In the U.S., one used an assault rifle, in the U.K., four hand guns, in China, a knife.
The death of any child at the hand of a deranged adult is never acceptable. Our children are vulnerable on this point and we need to address that.
