McClintock responds to letter

EDITOR: A recent letter writer criticized my vote on HR 933, the continuing appropriations bill to fund the federal government, misrepresenting it as an anti-military vote.

My objections to the bill, which I posted on my Congressional Website, include the fact that it continues to run up unsustainable deficits; that it continues to fund Obamacare; and that it effectively postpones any further attempts to control spending through the House’s power to appropriate until Sept. 30.

Three years ago Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that America’s greatest national security threat is our national debt.  At the time, that debt stood at $13.5 trillion.  Today it is above $16.5 trillion. Put another way, since he issued that chilling warning, this administration has added more to the nation’s debt than our government acquired in its first 200 years.

It seems to me that continuing another six months down that road to ruin is the real “anti-military” vote.

REP. TOM McCLINTOCK

Representative McClintock votes no to fund the government. No news here, as he votes no on virtually everything. Anything that President Obama supports or that will be to the benefit of the people. He does this because he loves his job and wants to keep it until he dies in office. A true carpetbagger politician. OK, please don't come and burn down my house -- it's just my and Mr. Fred's opinion. In his youth Mr. Fred was a Republican -- I'm not sure why he changed his party affiliation.

One day Mr. Fred probably realized he can just sit around licking his ba**s and have somebody else feed him.

Sadly, Mr. Fred has no testicles. He is a rescue and was neutered before he came to live with us. Lib-Buster he cannot lick that which he does not have and there must have been another reason he saw the light. Hmmm, wait, he does like to be fed, but he works for his food by being my buddy and therefore isn't one of the 47% takers. He is now gaining weight after his operation and is beginning to look like his own self again. He was looking so gaunt before and that's the reason we suspected he might have cancer. Even though a Democrat, I don't think Mr. Fred is even aware of Obamacare -- he has the same health plan as Rush Limbaugh -- cash.

Anyone notice when a 'letter' describing a clear point of view sine qua non to our country's health, there are those who turn the facts into political gibberish so they don't have to face reality? makes one wonder who's court the balls are in. Glad fred's doing better tho.

One more time we have an elected representative who is using the claim of being a conservative, but is unable to define the opposition for who and what they are. The leftists in this country are bent on the redistribution of wealth. It is the ONLY thing they care about. It is their focus and religion. Everything they think, say and do is based on achieving that outcome. Any and all criticism they can use is based entirely on that objective. They do not care about the debt, deficit spending, unsustainable public sector obligations, the military, the destruction of our national healthcare system, the loss of freedom, the shreading of the Constitution, the rule of law, the economy, jobs, or anything else. They only care about OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. I wish we had someone on our side who could communicate that simple fact and never stray from it. It is their only motivation in life. Everything else including the letter you are responding to is just a side show meant to conseal their single minded objective. Every single expansion of government is just one more means of redistributing wealth.

James, Mr. Fred is not a taker. He is provided for because you choose of your own free will to provide for him. No one confiscates your resources to provide for him. Glad to hear he is doing well. Are they giving him any kind of steroid to prevent any allergic reaction to the chemo. If they are the steroid helps with weight gain. Weight gain is a great sign.

Nothing obama supports will be a benefit to the American people. I actually found an article that finally says what I have always known. Don't read it, it will upset you. http://spectator.org/archives/2013/03/20/deceiver-in-chief

Federal Revenues DROPPED 23% due to LACK OF JOBS... Austerity has England in a TRIPLE-DIP recession.... Old McClintock believes when a couple loses their jobs they should stop feeding the kids and sell the car.... They don't need it. They don't have a job.... NO WHERE in any actual real life place has AUSTERITY WORKED... Iceland -- 3.5% unemployment... They didn't do AUSTERITY... Now I challenge anyone to name ONE country SAVED by Austerity! (I have two more countries doing well that didn't do austerity. I'm ready.. Go!)

Dink, if the federal reserve has decreased by 23% after over a trillion dollars a year in deficit spending by obama, over a trillion in stimulus, tax and spend, borrow and spend and print and spend, 99 weeks of unemployment, 48 million on food stamps, advertising food stamps and welfare in Mexico, then I guess we need to spend even more. I guess I missed out on the new math.

Dink, how come England's -value added tax- VAT hasn't worked? They have done stimulus, they have done quatitative easing and yet they are only digging the hole deeper. You must have taken economics from the same correspondence course as crash test dummy biden. "We have to spend money to keep from going bankrupt"-joe biden.

Mr. Lane, My father, once told me "the only true solution to a problem is almost as painful as the problem". Austerity is painful, that's why it is a issue to be avoided by not over spending in the first place. My family comes from Sweden. It is a somewhat socialized country that does well economically and will never need any form of austerity. Why? Because all able-body Swedes are encouraged to contribute for their benefits and our country is conservative with spending. Putting a discussion about austerity before discussing out of control spending is like putting the cart before the horse.

Dink, you must have ignored the link I posted. Latvia's economy has done a complete turn around after auserity. "Latvia's government undertook a heavy dose of austerity after a credit boom led to an economic crash in 2008. The government undertook the biggest fiscal adjustment drive of any country in the European Union and gross domestic product (GDP) plunged 24 percent in 2009.This commitment to fiscal prudence, and Latvia's subsequent growth of 5.5 percent in 2011 and 4.5 percent in 2012, has led the country to be feted by proponents of austerity, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel." http://www.cnbc.com/id/100558455

Dink, how come obama doesn't believe in economic growth as a means of recovery? Government spending money it does not have is not economic growth it is debt growth. obama is doing everything he can to stomp in the producers and job creators and making as many people government dependent as possible. You are simply supporting the notion that leaving a huge debt to future generations is just fine as long as you get provided for.

The right wing economic ideologues had their chance and got what they wanted in terms of deregulation, union busting, deficit spending and war. And the results are now pretty clear. It is time for them to just shut up.

You are a clown Glen, what we are dealing with in this country are the results of decades of leftist ideology going back to FDR. How come our national debt is roughly the same amount we have spent on the war on poverty? Keep blaming everyone else for the results of leftism. It is how you can justify never learning. How come obama is putting so many people in the poor house? We have zero recovery going on because the clueless manchild in the whitehouse thinks like you. We have never gotten anywhere close to what I want. If we did 50% of the entire government would be shut down overnight and we would have a 10% flat tax that all the dem voters would have to pay too. The dems have controlled at least 2/3's of the federal government since 2006 and you are so braindead you blame everyone else for the results of their policies. Maybe it is time to let the grownups take over.

Sir, your letter is a repeat of your appearance at the El Dorado County Veterans Hall 2 years ago where your visit was billed as an informational session about veteran’s benefits. Instead you spent your time occasionally banging on the table in front of you describing our countries downward spiraling into socialism under President Obama? I don’t believe you real give a dam about veterans. After my military service it took years to get registered with the VA suffering from PTSD, injuries, bad teeth from 31 months on the ground culminating in three Agent Orange related cancers now four. And you’re doing it again to the current veterans. I gave good service to my country, you Sir, have given nothing.

Richard, of the endless follies of liberalism one in particular comes to mind in what you describe. When you attempt to do everything for everyone in order to purchase political power, eventually someone is going to get shorted. Now, if you think supporting an endless stream of illegals with free housing, welfare, food stamps, school, school lunches and all the million of others who have never contributed anything as career welfare cases is a compassionate thing to do then some of the costs will eventually come out of your benefits. You voted for it. And now you are blaming someone who has had almost nothing to do with all the people who are recieving your benny's.
