A few interesting observations regarding Terry DuCross’s story. One is why is the price of the gun his mother purchased $394.94 relevant? I ask because a Brady telling the same story http://www.bradycampaign.org/toomanyvictims/2013/01/tribute-to-sheila-salley/ deemed it important in his story also. The second is how this story keeps popping up on local newspapers by numerous different family members who all seem as worried about how much money their mom spent to purchase a gun as the fact that she killed herself alone in her apartment. So I ask Mr DuCros do you live here in our county? Are you a real person?

Terry, sorry to hear about your mother but it sounds like she was suffering, maybe from depression. She decided to take her life, how can it possibly be the gun’s fault or regulations allowing her to legally purchase a gun. But more importantly an illegal purchase cannot be PREVENTED by more gun laws, she was alredy breaking the law by making the purchase, IT WAS ILLEGAL. People that don’t have access to a gun, can end their life just as quickly and painlessly by hitting a tree at 55 mph. Get a grip, the gun had nothing to do with her decision to end her life. If you still don’t get it, read this commment over again until you do. You will find your animosity toward guns or gun laws is simply misdirected. And GLEN, your’e an idiot, no cure or therapy for that, sorry pal.

On June 10, 2011 my mother, Sheila DuCros Salley, traveled from her home in Dover, New Hampshire, across the state border into Maine. She arrived at the Kittery Trading Post and purchased a gun for $394.94. She drove home to New Hampshire, test fired the weapon in a couple of her closets, then fired it one more time into her head, immediately ending her life. Only by sheer luck was no one else injured or killed with her naïve practice shooting through walls.My mother was responsible for her own choice and actions. However, this death could have been prevented.

Let’s take away the semi auto weapons so that only the bad and the ugly have them; that makes about as much since as taking the horns off animals so that the predators would have easy access to dinner. It certainly isn’t going to make the predator go away. Put you’re head on straight and think about it! removing defense just makes it easier for the aggressor. All of the states that have strict gun laws have runaway crime, Chicago; crime center USA.

Congressman McClintock’s Vote Note on HR 933: By adopting HR 933, the House lost the opportunity to lock in sequester savings through the end of the fiscal year. The continuing resolution sets federal discretionary funding at the annual pre-sequester level of $1.043 trillion, relying on the continued operation of the sequester to reduce that figure to $984 billion. Should the sequester be repealed in coming weeks, this CR would automatically revert to a level well above that set by the budget resolutions adopted by the House. Secondarily, this action also sacrificed an opportunity to forbid funding for Obamacare and effectively postpones any further attempts to control spending through the House’s power to appropriate until September 30th. I believe that until the normal budget and appropriations process can be restored at a sustainable level, continuing resolutions to fund the government and extensions of the debt limit should be advanced in short increments, within levels set by the House budget resolution, and accompanied by the incremental reforms necessary to remain within that trajectory. The House’s unwillingness to do so today is disappointing.
