Mr. Holland

EDITOR:

In a few recent Mountain Democrat articles, comments have been made or direct quotes attributed to Mr. Holland, the bail bondsman in Placerville. It appears Mr. Holland throws some weight about this county, making decisions and reporting to his “friend” District Attorney Vern Pierson, calling in his attorney to sit in and intimidate potential adversaries to Mr. Pierson, stepping up to share his knowledge of with the DA “over dinner.”

It makes me wonder what else is shared with the DA. Do the regular Joes in the county have any chance at all of a fair trial, a fair investigation? Are we doomed to fear of the government and the folks who are supposed to be defending us?

The tactics being bandied about regarding Ray Nutting’s trial are abhorrent. The domineering arrogant attitudes of Mr. Holland and his associates (friends) lead me to believe this county needs a good cleaning. Maybe instead of spending taxpayer dollars chasing after Mr. Nutting, the money should be spent checking out the interrelationships existing in the running of our county.
