Not a secular nation

By From page A5 | December 13, 2013

I’d like to reply to Ms. Medley’s letter “A Secular Nation.”

Dear Ms. Medley,

After reading your letter in the Mountain Democrat, I went online and checked out the percentage of Christians in America, according to Wikipedia at In 2012 73 percent of Americans identified themselves as Christian. According to Gallup at, 77 percent identified themselves as Christians in 2012. According to the Washington Times at, 78 percent of Americans identified themselves as Christians in 2011.

I wonder what would make you think we are a secular nation?

Additionally, according to the Washington Times, Christians make up roughly one-third of the world’s population, or 2.2 billion.
