Opposed to roundabout

By
From page A5 | July 03, 2013 |

EDITOR: Readers of this paper will know that Mr. Longhofer, Mr. Garon and I can hardly agree on the time of day. Me being conservative and them on the left wing, we almost never see eye to eye on anything.

That’s what makes the issue of the Cedar Ravine Roundabout so unusual. Mr. Longhofer, Mr. Garon and I find outselves in total agreement that this roundabout is one of the most idiotic, boneheaded and unpopular ideas to ever come from the Placerville City Council.

I see in Mr. Longhofer’s letter a reference to a vote on the roundabout that I as well as Mr. Longhofer never heard about. If so it will probably mean another lawsuit to stop this monstrosity that the city will have to waste money defending. It seems that there is a small clique in the city that took the massive rejection of the proposed roundabout by the people of Placerville personally.

The city is acting like a child in a pout after someone takes his toy away. They seem determined to build this albatross in spite of the whole city hating it. I use that intersection every day. It would be great if all the intersections in the city had traffic flowing through them as efficiently as the Cedar Ravine-Main Street intersection does. I rarely wait more than a few seconds. One of the most lame reasons the city fathers have come up with to build this disaster is that they can get grant money to do it. That’s a reason?

If I got you a grant to cut your arm off would you do that too? Like I said earlier to get me, Mr. Longhofer, and Mr. Garon on the same side you have to come up with one of the most incredibly stupid ideas to ever come down the pike. To the City Council: Please do the people of Placerville a favor and properly file the plans for this roundabout in the dumpster out back where they belong.
