Pancreatic Cancer’s Purple Stride Walk 2013

By From page A5 | October 28, 2013

EDITOR: I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who have signed up for this year’s Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Purple Stride Sacramento 2013. As of today’s date Oct. 23, we are well over our goal of $45,000 and we still have nine days to go.

I am so thankful to everyone who has donated not only money, but their time as well to make this the best walk to date for pancreatic cancer in our area. Thank you’s go out to local El Dorado County Residents : Pete Messimore of A Helping Hand, Pam Neilson-Kloski,and Pure Life Collective in Diamond Springs for all of your help with donations.

I am also honored to be this year’s featured speaker to tell my survival story (12 1/2-plus years cancer-free of pancreatic cancer). It is not too late to join us in knowing about pancreatic cancer, fighting it and ending it. Pancreatic cancer is on the rise as the No. 4 cause of cancer death and in less than seven years will be No.  2. This is due to no early testing for detection. I was on of the few lucky ones.

If you would still like to come out and walk with us or donate, there is still time. Online registration ends at midnight Oct. 30, at pancan.org/purplestridesacramento2013 or you can join us Saturday Nov. 2 at William Land Park near the Sacramento Zoo. Registration starts at 8 a.m.
