EDITOR:
This Saturday, before the rain, we took down our Christmas tree on Highway 50. I’d like to take this moment to thank the Placerville Chamber of Commerce and the City of Placerville, for allowing so many of us to revel in the Christmas spirit by decorating and lighting a tree for all to enjoy. It absolutely gives me such joy, every time I drive down the road, day and night.
However, there was a Grinch this Christmas, whom stole our extension cord, which allowed our tree to not be lit up for some time. In fact, there were several trees around us that had their previously lit trees go dark, because of this shameless and self-centered creature. Grinch even had to cut through many zip ties and duct tape to apprehend a $12 cord; this was not an easy swipe.
Bah Humbug. You creep.
My grand suggestion is that in the future, if you see anyone lurking around the plugs our festive tree, you shoot them … with a camera, that is. Then we can prominently feature them on the front page of the Mountain Democrat as “Placerville’s Most Wanted.”
You won’t take our spirit and joy, but you certainly can have our pity … which I am most certain you don’t want.

I totally agree. I LOVE driving home every night and seeing all those beautiful trees lit up. It feels wonderful to see such Christmas spirit alive and well in our little town. As to that jerk who stole the extention cords: Who would go to so much trouble to steal an extention cord, of all things? A prank, maybe? Whatever, it's just ridiculous and pathetic. And thank YOU, Kim for putting the effort into to decorate and display a tree for us to enjoy :)
