On Sunday, Aug. 12, right in the middle of an extended heat wave, the City of Placerville’s beautifully remodeled pool closed for the season. This was after being open only 10 weeks of the year for public use. What is so sad about this is that many people depend on that pool for their only means of exercise. During this short period of time I met people who used the pool to relieve back problems, as well as people who can no longer do high impact exercise along with people just trying to stay fit, all sharing the pool.
My question is, why not, in this wonderful area that we all live in, find a way to keep this pool open longer? We all know that keeping our community members healthy is better for all of us in the long run. Isn’t it time for the city and county, along with other interested parties, to come together to make this possible?
