EDITOR: Hello fellow El Dorado County residents. I am writing to let you know that it is that time of year to lace up your walking shoes for a great cause. I posted last year asking for my family and friends to walk with me to help raise not only money but awareness about a deadly and underdiagnosed form of cancer called pancreatic cancer.
I am coming up on 12 years post-pancreatic cancer surgery and I am only 1 in millions who has survived this long without reoccurrence of cancer coming back.
On Sunday, Oct. 28 at Cal Expo the Pancreatic Cancer Purple Stride will begin at 8 a.m.at Lot A. I am walking again this year not only as a survivor but as an advocate for research in finding out how to detect it early and a cure. I am also honoring some wonderful people I have met at my place of employment over the past couple of years who fought and sadly lost the battle against pancreatic cancer.
I humbly ask for you to help either by walking with us or donating to pancan.org/Purple Stride 2012. You can even be a “virtual participant,” donate, sleep in and still get a T-Shirt.
Thank you so much for your love and support. El Dorado County rocks.
