arnold langeDecember 20, 2012 - 8:40 pm
let me be the first to comment.....WTF?
Phil VeerkampDecember 20, 2012 - 10:53 pm
arnold, perhaps the Mayans are right. . . . Perhaps this is a pre tremor leading up to the catastrophic collective conscience pfft. . . . we shall see . . . damn, I still have some loot that I meant to give to Red hawk . . .
DarrinDecember 24, 2012 - 7:20 am
Third, WTF? Not sure what you wrote there, Ms. Hoffman, but there is no "god" like being so saying some thing to the effect that god wants only men and women to be "married" is absurd. Now if you could get him to actually tell me that in words, I might believe him.
James E.December 24, 2012 - 11:13 am
Darrin, if you do speak to God let us know if it's a male or female voice. Always wondered if God is a woman.
Joe SintermanJanuary 21, 2013 - 8:49 am

When someone can figure out WTF this letter is about, please clue the rest of us in.
francescaduchamp@att.netJanuary 21, 2013 - 10:34 am
she is responding to this opinion... (Here)EDITOR: Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to consider two cases concerning the legality of same sex marriage, I would like to ask two questions of those who oppose it. First, say that you oppose same sex marriage on the grounds that marriage should be limited to a man and a woman because procreation is the purpose of marriage and a homosexual couple cannot produce children, the reason cited by many opponents. Would you deny marriage to a heterosexual couple who love each other, but choose not to or cannot, due to advanced age or medical issues, have children? Second question: How would the legalization of same sex marriage hurt your marriage? DAVID A. SAUVE Placerville
kggJanuary 21, 2013 - 10:41 am
so, my daughter and son in law who can't have children should never have gotten married? more questions: why on earth do you care if gay people are married? what difference does that make to you?

No room in the ole usofa for non-producers. put up or shut up

Putting Junes letter into perspective, it could have been written buy any one of a dozen US Republican Congressmen. Regardless, it’s a great day to be an American.
James E.January 21, 2013 - 12:17 pm
I see that I have responded to this letter before, but only in regards to whether God had a male or female voice. As for the content of Ms. Hoffman's letter, I'd comment if I knew what "matrimony is the harmony of a lifting lifetime early composition to the conditional light of truth" means. I stand confused.
Phil VeerkampJanuary 21, 2013 - 12:20 pm
49ers are in the superbowl, James!
Phil VeerkampJanuary 21, 2013 - 12:27 pm
PS - Th' Missus and I are celebrating. Our great-granddaughter’s singing the National Anthem at the Shiner Circus in Saginaw Michigan on the 26th. We’re jumping in our climate changing beast and spewing CO2 from here to there. Then we’re racing back here to enjoy the super bowl with family and friends. I sure hope things warm up as the result of our sacrifice. Marriage makes fun stuff!!!!
Michael FredricksonJanuary 21, 2013 - 12:59 pm
Michigan is lovely this time of year. Please don't hurry back. We will be fine.
Phil VeerkampJanuary 21, 2013 - 1:06 pm
Yes indeed, Michael! And now that Michigan is a right-to-work-state I'm sure that it will be even lovelier. I'll bet Michigan's "loveliness quotient curve" is positive. What a shame about California's. I'll keep in touch.
James E.January 21, 2013 - 1:59 pm
Phil, if you have a great granddaughter, you must be older than me (75). I thought you were a young pup.
Phil VeerkampJanuary 21, 2013 - 2:45 pm
James, I was captured by a cougar. I'm not even close to 75. OUCH!!!
James E.January 21, 2013 - 5:13 pm
Phil, be careful around mountain lions, especially around the older ones.

The Dei-phobes are out in force on this one. I remember the original letter to editor and replied to it with a historically-oriented perspective written in an adult tone. The reaction to it from many of these same Dei-phobes was about as high schoolish as what we see to Ms Hoffman's piece.
