This is not a blue or a red comment…it is just a question: in response to Evelyn’s post about the open trading of guns in Seattle “LOL”. Is not ANYONE concerned, regardless of your politics, that ANYONE bought these guns? Without a background check to see if they were a criminal? Without a check to see if they were mentally ill? I think that these are reasonable questions, and MODERATE. I think conservatives and liberal folks should be concerned. It’s not about taking away gun rights. It’s just reasonable (fyi, I target shoot and own guns).

Richard, guns are very important to me just as many things are. They serve as a tool for hunting, varmints, home defense and just the plain ole enjoyment of shooting them at targets. Don’t you remember as a kid getting your first BB gun and then a real 22? I’ve never killed anyone and don’t plan to so please don’t worry as I am a responsible gun owner.

Posted just for the heck of it: "Seattle Gun BuyBack Gets JACKED! Turns Into a Damn Gun Show! LOL" - People that had arrived to trade in their weapons for $100 or $200 BuyBack gift cards($100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons) soon realized that gun collectors were there and paying top dollar for collectible firearms. So, as the line for the chump cards got longer and longer people began to jump ship and head over to the dealers. But the BuyBack wasn’t a bust. On the contrary – their $80,000 supply of gift cards didn’t last but 2 hours, and by 11:00 am they began attempting to issue IOU’s at which point the entire crowd responded by turning and marching toward the gun dealers, forcing the police officers to pack it up for the day. - HERE

Smith, patio and Steers cant seem to grasp why we need gun control when most ten year olds get it right away. This is what’s be proposed to slow the uncontrolled spread of guns: (1) eliminate the gun show and internet loop holes on background checks, 2) eliminate the sale of assault style/military grade weaponry, 3) eliminate the sale of extended clips and speed loading devices, 4) legislate that firearms be registered in the same manner as motor vehicles with comprehensive written and skills demonstration before the issuance of any permits to own and operate firearms, 5) implement the mental health care equivalency provisions of the Affordable Care Act. I firmly believe that these steps will help increase public safety while at the same time respect the Second Amendment right of the nation’s citizenry.

Thanks for the endorsement James but I can’t accept. Rush has far too many friends in politics to be honest about the repubs. Even though obama is a new low in American presidents the repubs aren’t much better. If the repubs had won the whitehouse the senate and kept the house in this last election, they would not have eliminated 2/3’s of the federal government likes needs to happen. They wouldn’t have eliminated even one department. Every time the repubs have been in power they have increased spending and expanded government. Which causes me to wonder just how unbalanced the left truly is. If the repubs increase spending (leftism) and expand government (leftism) and the left treats them as if they are inhuman just how far left is the left. And how is it that they truly expect anyone to negotiate or compromise with them?

Cookie, you frequently mention the $800 billion stimulus. Do you think that perhaps you could get it right from now on? The stimulus was $787 billion of which $288 billion of that amount was tax breaks. Just over 1/3rd of it went to tax breaks — I though Tea/Republicans love tax breaks. Any chance you could give out the right numbers the next time you mention the $800 billion stimulus. Ms. Kernan, don’t recall that I’ve used the term stupid when referring to Tea/Republicans. Can you refresh my memory? And no, I’ve never run a business. Given I enlisted at 17 (later out for four years for college) and then retired after 31 years of active duty, my business was keeping you and El Dorado County safe. And, yes, I do receive government money — Social Security, military retirement, and VA disability. So, guessing that I get more than you pay in taxes, when you write that next tax check be happy that the entire amount is going to me. As for the specific amounts I’m getting from the government, I’m prepared to reveal the amounts when you tell us all your income and all other financial details. R.J. ask me a direct question and I’ll try to answer it. Make it a reasonable question and not a Tea/Republican question and I’ll do my best. If you classify “news” as only being told what you want to hear is it really news? Places like China would appreciate your support of media censorship. Here is a suggestion. Write or record your own “news” and don’t expose yourself to anything contradictory. That way you will never have to exercise your brain with thought. Everyone should read this letter a few dozen times, it is what represents the openmindedness and tolerance of liberalism.
