Relay for Life of Placerville

By From page A5 | October 02, 2013

I know that this may be late, but I would like to thank everyone who came out to support our Relay for Life of Placerville. This was our first relay as Placerville as before it was El Dorado County; this year the American Cancer Society started a Relay for Life of Cameron Park. Both of our relays were a success this year because of our community.

Relay for Life is a 24-hour event that raises money for the American Cancer Society for research and patient services. The American Cancer Society gave us a great staff partner in Pam Gunning, but everyone else involved is a volunteer. I want to thank all of our sponsors, our donors, our participants, our survivors, our committee; but I really want to thank our Team Captains. The Team Captains drive our fundraising efforts; without them we wouldn’t have a Relay for Life in Placerville.

Our Team Captains raise money throughout the year by doing car washes, restaurant fundraising, raffles, Bunco parties — you name it, they are doing it. Then the day of the event they are fundraising with bake sales, silent auctions and selling food.

Our donors don’t just donate money, but also their time. All of our entertainment came out to support the cause for free, so thank you so much to everyone this year. We raised $69,089.75 to fight cancer.

Thank you everyone again.
