When I first read the letter “Religious Groups” in the Aug. 10 edition of the Democrat, I was initially incensed that the writer would identify the Catholic religion, among others, with the Taliban terrorist group. As a Catholic, I knew my church was nothing like what the reader tried to define us as. After some prayer and reflection, God made me realize that instead of being annoyed at the writer for his demeaning of me and my faith, I should exult in the fact that I have a faith and belief system that sustains me in this life as I travel to my final reward.
I will earnestly pray that God shine the perpetual light of understanding, forgiveness and redemption upon the writer and others who think in the same terms about religion. Life is hard … but it is even harder without God. God bless you.
