Remember Benedict Arnold

EDITOR: I have been reading several letters in the Mountain Democrat about folks who say that they will fight to keep their military type weapons in spite of any federal law that may be passed.

They imply that they will fight for their “rights” not in the courtroom or at the ballot box but in their front yard.

The notion that you will attack a government worker enforcing the law borders on treason. You need to assuage your zealotry. The fact that you actually write to a newspaper your intent to violate a federal law (that does not even exist at this time) is inviting an investigation. Remember what our founding fathers did to Benedict Arnold!

Harry, read the letters more carefully and tell us who proposed to attack government workers. Most 2A proponents have no such intentions, and much to our relief, we have also been assured by 2A opponents that there will be no confiscation anyway, so this is a non-issue. As far as assuaging our zealotry, those terms, sounding so close to sausage and celery, made me hungry. Let's go eat.

As I recall Benedict Arnold escaped to England and lived out his natural life. We weren't so kind to the British officer who assisted him.

It is always amazing why people who oppose rural conservative values move to an area like this that is the backbone of conservative values and then want to impose the liberal typical Bay area values they fled, I suggest they simply return to their old homes and their liberal friends and neighbors as quickly as possible. They also need to accept that local Govt. stands with the law abiding citizens on the issue of the 2nd Amendment.
