In response to the letter endorsing Mike Owen for Auditor-Controller, I have to disagree with the author’s premise — that it is “time for change.” May I remind readers that the 2008 presidential election was based on “change” as well? What are Mr. Owen’s qualifications for office?
The articles I have read about Joe Harn and the live coverage of meetings I have seen have shown Joe Harn to be fiscally responsible, always looking to save taxpayers’ money. Under Joe Harn’s stewardship, the county has no debt, $54 million in reserves, and two key savings to taxpayers were preventing a $700,000 consulting contract and a proposed “Cadillac” CalPERS contract for county employees.
Based on facts and actual accomplishments, voters will see there is no need for a change.
